Set in 1930’s India during Gandhi's rise to power, Water tells the moving story of a girl who is married and widowed at eight years old and sent away to a Temple where Hindu widows live in penitence. This powerful and controversial film features stunning cinematography, contrasting the idyllic setting beside the sacred River Ganges with the widows' oppressive existence as outcasts.
